Ants

Body Type

3 well-defined segments: head, thorax, abdomen

Antennae

bent or elbowed

Wings

4 wings with 2 longer, 2 shorter.

Diet

depends on the species; mostly omnivorous, eating plants or animals.

Visibility

Workers are black, brown, or reddish. Seen out in the open

Visibility

Workers are transparent, light, or creamy white in color, typically only visible if an active feeding site is exposed. Swarmer’s are dark brown or black if inside a home they typically trail to light such as a window.
